Will Smith shared how children have kept him from going down a dark path

Will Smith shared two adorable pictures of his daughter Willow, along with a humorous “Daddy/Daughter” meme, on Sunday. The heartfelt post expressed his gratitude and love, highlighting how Willow has been a guiding light during darker times.

In the images, Willow and Will are seen enjoying each other’s company, with the meme humorously contrasting Will’s tough persona with sweet moments shared with his daughter. The post reflects Will’s deep appreciation for Willow’s impact on his life, showing how she has helped him through challenging times and brought joy to his life.

The 54-year-old Oscar winner, who is starring in *I Am Legend 2* alongside Michael B. Jordan, recently shared a meme online featuring a tough persona holding a big piece of meat and putting a Bowie knife in his mouth.

The caption read, “The women who can command me hasn’t been born yet.” However, the second half of the meme showed the same tough guy wearing a tutu and fairy wings, having a tea party with his daughter four years later.

Will Smith commented, “That Daddy/Daughter thing is REAL!” on Facebook. Willow replied in the comments section with a heart-eyed emoji.

The *Emancipation* actor continued to share endearing pictures showcasing his close bond with his 22-year-old daughter. One image showed Will holding Willow in a field, while another captured them snuggling closely during a photo shoot.

On December 18, 2018, Will told People, “I think this has been the best time I’ve ever been a father.”

“I raised my first son fairly well,” Will Smith shared. “Jaden helped me a little bit when we were together. I got my sea legs with Willow’s guidance.”

Along with his ex-wife Sheree Zampino, the *Fresh Prince of Bel-Air* actor is also a father to two kids, Trey Smith, 30, and Jaden, 24.

Will remarked, referencing his infamous Oscars slap, “The last couple of years of my life, I have sufficiently suffered enough to have real wisdom.” He added, “This last year has been the best year I’ve ever spent raising my children.”

The actor from *Bad Boys* went on to say, “Learning and personal development is the best thing you can do for your kids.” Errors are to be expected.

As the adage goes, “Children see through our attempts to make them understand and do things that we did not do or comprehend.” They lose respect as well.

When I was with my kids, I could say things like, “I don’t know,” and “Let’s figure it out together.” Since we are a team here, let’s go investigate together.

Smith discussed how hard it was for him to “connect and love on a deep level” and how having Willow in his life gave him a clearer perspective on things.

“I guess I realized that I was lacking a little something when it comes to deep love and connection. I initially observed it in Willow. Willow was the one to say, ‘Daddy, you’re not.’

I realized that I was becoming less able to connect and love others. The easy part is that I could offer it; I’ll lay it out for you. But while my kids were reaching out to me, I was failing to live up to their expectations at the same moment.

Willow Smith, whose breakthrough hit song ‘Whip My Hair’ catapulted her to fame at the age of ten, hasn’t always had an easy time being Will Smith’s daughter.

Willow told her father, ‘I’m finished, Daddy,’ as she left the stage during Justin Bieber’s 2011 world tour. ‘I can’t wait to get home.’

Will desired for his protege sensation to keep performing and fulfill her promise to open for Justin Bieber in Australia.

Fed up with her fame, Willow rebelled against it by shaving her head; Smith authored a biography named *Will*, which was released in 2021, about this experience.

‘My jaw nearly broke, loosened, and collapsed to the kitchen floor: my hair-whipping, international superstar, who dominated the world, was completely bald,’ he wrote.”
