Snoop Dogg tested out his super “lung power” as he hit the pool for a special lesson with swimming legend and Olympian Michael Phelps.
The hip hop icon put on a swimming cap and goggles for one-on-one master class from Phelps, a 23-time gold Olympic medal winner, in a special video in celebration of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“When it comes to one of my lifetime goals, there’s only one man I can think of — Mr. 23-time, OG, the GOAT,” Snoop said.
“You see me and MP we go back like the backstroke. Now MP, how does one get fast in the pool?” he asked.
Phelps said there are two things that are key: wingspan and lung power.
“You just described me! You said wingspan, lung power — I definitely have great lung power,” Snoop, known for his songs about smoking marijuana, said with a laugh.
“And I do have a swimmer’s body. Look, our bodies are similar man,” he said standing side by side with Phelps. “We could be twins!”
The two legends got into the water with Phelps showing Snoop the proper freestyle arm movements.
The artist then showed off his freestyle — the swimming stroke, that is.
When it was Phelps turn, Snoop watched with admiration yelling, “Okay flipper!”
The two then tried to freestyle in sync.
“Mike you make this look too easy. You see I’m in gold medal condition,” Snoop said, visibly panting. “And he’s still in gold medal condition as we speak!”
“Shout out to the Phelps family and to the team that’s going to give me some oxygen right now,” the rapper joked at the end of the clip.
The Men’s 200 meter breaststroke, 100 meter freestyle, 200 meter butterfly and 800 meter freestyle will all take place Tuesday at the Olympics.
Snoop’s been active at the Olympics. Earlier this month he carried the Olympic flame through the streets of Saint-Denis, a suburb north of Paris, and he is also a special NBC Olympics correspondent for the Games.
