Pilot’s Last Words Confirmed in Tragic Air India Crash That Killed 241

The world mourns as details emerge from the most tragic aviation disaster in India’s recent history. 🕊️✈️

A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded yesterday when Air India Flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, crashed just seconds after takeoff near Ahmedabad Airport, claiming the lives of 241 passengers. As the investigation continues, new and chilling details have surfaced—including the pilot’s final words before the crash.

TRAGIC TURN FOR AIR INDIA FLIGHT

A scheduled Air India flight carrying 242 people ended in catastrophe shortly after takeoff. What began as a routine departure turned fatal within moments, as the aircraft lost communication with air traffic control just 30 seconds into flight. It crashed into a nearby hostel for medical students, amplifying the loss both in the air and on the ground.

Air India confirmed the aircraft involved was a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner—marking the first known fatal accident involving this model.

DISTRESS CALL BEFORE IMPACT: PILOT’S LAST WORDS REVEALED

New findings from Indian aviation officials confirm that the flight’s captain, Sumeet Sabharwal—a veteran pilot with more than 8,200 hours of flight time—made a final transmission just before the crash.

“Mayday… no thrust, losing power, unable to lift,” were his last words to air traffic controllers, signaling a sudden and total loss of engine performance.

He was joined in the cockpit by First Officer Clive Kundar, who had logged over 1,100 hours. Both crew members died in the crash.

ONE SURVIVOR AMONG 242 ABOARD

Out of all passengers and crew, only one person survived: 40-year-old British national Vishwash Kumar Ramesh. He remains hospitalized in critical condition and will require multiple surgeries, according to doctors.

Nationalities onboard included:

169 Indian nationals
53 British nationals
7 Portuguese nationals
1 Canadian national

In addition to the onboard fatalities, casualties have been reported among residents of the hostel struck during the crash.

INVESTIGATORS SEEK CAUSE IN FIRST 787 FATALITY

A joint investigation is now underway involving Indian authorities and Boeing engineers. Given that this is the first fatal crash involving the Boeing 787 series, investigators are urgently reviewing technical data, maintenance logs, and flight recordings to determine whether mechanical failure, human error, or a combination of both led to the power loss.

Preliminary results are expected soon.

NATION MOURNS UNTHINKABLE LOSS

The tragedy has left families grieving across multiple countries. Vigils are being held in honor of those lost. For many, this heartbreaking event is a reminder of the fragility of life and the weight each flight carries—not just in cargo, but in lives, hopes, and human connections.
