After a lengthy legal dispute, Katy Perry has secured ownership of a private 2-acre estate in Montecito, concluding a four-year battle over the picturesque California property.
The conflict began in July 2020 when Carl Westcott agreed to sell the estate to Katy’s business manager for $15 million. Shortly after, Westcott informed Perry’s team that he no longer wished to sell, sparking a protracted legal fight.
In December 2023, the court ruled in favor of Perry. According to property records, she has already paid $9 million for the estate, with the remaining balance to be settled after determining the damages, which could reach up to $6 million.
Perry is seeking compensation for lost fair-market rental value, deferred maintenance, and necessary repairs for water damage and a fallen tree.
Katy acquired the estate through her company, DDoveB, named after her daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom. The deed was filed on May 17, just two days before Perry’s final episode as a judge on “American Idol,” marking the end of her seven-season run on the popular show.
The Montecito estate, with its stunning views and gated privacy, promises to be a sanctuary for Katy and her family. Its luxurious features and serene environment make it an ideal retreat amid her busy career and family life.
Securing this estate marks a new chapter for Katy and her family, especially for her daughter, Daisy. The estate is set to be a place of joy and cherished memories, much like the heartwarming moment shared during “American Idol’s” Mother’s Day episode.
On May 12, Mother’s Day, the “Firework” singer’s daughter made a special appearance during the Disney Night episode of “American Idol.” Daisy Dove Bloom, whom Katy shares with her partner, actor Orlando Bloom, was spotted in the audience sitting on her father’s lap, watching Katy, who was dressed as Cinderella for the occasion.
Katy and Orlando have kept their daughter out of the public eye, making Daisy’s appearance even more special. Fans were quick to gush over the adorable child and her resemblance to her mother.
“So stinking cute,” wrote one fan, while another praised, “Beautiful like her Mommy.” Another fan noted, “She looks just like her mother.” Some, however, thought she looked more like her father. “She’s adorable. To me, [she] looks more like her daddy,” commented one admirer, while another added, “I think that Daisy looks like both of them!”
Reflecting on the special Mother’s Day celebration, Katy discussed how wonderful it was to have Daisy and Orlando cheering her on from the crowd. “Now being a mother myself, I know how important it is for mothers to be celebrated and supported and loved. Daisy changed my life 100 percent,” she shared.
Katy also marked Mother’s Day with a heartfelt Instagram post, sharing a carousel of images from when she first found out she was pregnant with Daisy. “Today I told my mother that the day I realized how much she loved me is the day I had my own daughter, Daisy Dove… there is nothing like a Mother’s love… never take it for granted… Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers and caretakers — any way you come ,” she wrote.
The post included photos of her positive pregnancy test, a Facetime call with Orlando to share the news, and a video of her telling fellow “American Idol” judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan that she was pregnant. The images also showed Katy’s growing baby bump.
This Instagram post came two months after rumors circulated that Katy might be pregnant with her second child, following her appearance at the Billboard Women in Music event in a figure-hugging outfit that sparked speculation.
Despite the rumors and the reactions to her outfit, Katy and Orlando have not confirmed any news about expecting a second child. Katy previously mentioned putting baby plans on hold due to her Las Vegas residency, stating, “I’m in Vegas, and I can’t do that show with anything in my belly, especially a human.”
