After hosting Wheel of Fortune for an impressive 43 years, Pat Sajak’s final episode of America’s game show has been scheduled.
Sajak’s tenure as the beloved host will conclude in June, according to recent reports.
NewsNation reports that the 77-year-old game show host, who has already filmed his last episode, will make his final appearance on June 7.
In the weeks leading up to his farewell, Wheel of Fortune will feature a special series of episodes titled “Thanks for the Memories” to honor Sajak’s long-standing contribution to the show.
Last summer, Sajak announced his decision to retire following the 41st season of the show.
“Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last,” he said. “It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all.”
Soon after Sajak revealed his retirement plans, Ryan Seacrest was announced as the new host of Wheel of Fortune, with Vanna White continuing her role on the show.
“I am truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak. I can say, along with the rest of America, that it’s been a privilege and pure joy to watch Pat and Vanna on our television screens for an unprecedented 40 years, making us smile every night and feel right at home with them,” Seacrest said last summer.
While I will certainly miss Pat Sajak on Wheel of Fortune, as he’s the only host I’ve known, I am also excited to see how Ryan Seacrest will take on the role.
